Sundancer Charters is based out of Cape Coral Florida. We serve the coastal and inland waterways of Cape Coral, Fort Myers Beach, Estero, and Naples. Owned and run by Capt. Shawn O'Brien and his wife Ruth. Capt. Shawn first came down to Southwest Florida in 1991, Capt. Shawn holds a 100 ton Masters rating from the United States Coast Guard. He has over 25 years of experience in all of the areas waterways from Pine Island Sound down to Big Marco Pass. He has boated across the state between the East and West coast of Florida and from the Panhandle down to the Keys. As a former United State's Marine, safety and proper procedures are his most important processes each day. Sundancer Charters is a member of the SWFMIA (Southwest Florida Marine Industry Association) and the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce. Shawn and Ruth are also members of the Cape Coral Sail and Power Squadron. They love being on the water and want to share these great experiences with you.
The Irish Wake is a Four-Sixty Sea Ray Sundancer. She is meticulous cleaned and detailed. With an almost fifteen feet of beam and over fifty feet of length she offers huge areas to entertain our guests. And weighing in at 38,000 lbs she provides a solid, dry, ride. She has (2) 450 hp Diesel Cummins engines that provide a brisk 25 mph cruise. There is a full bow rail and handles for moving safely fore and aft from the cockpit to the bow. Located on the bow is a huge bow pad for laying in the sun or just relaxing. The cockpit has comfortable seating for 10+ and the rear seat rolls out to make another large protected sun pad. Her hardtop offers shade underway. Below decks are (2) staterooms and (2) bathrooms (heads). There is also a salon and kitchen area (galley), all air-conditioned.
For those wanting to get in the water, the Irish Wake has a full hydraulic transom allowing all to safely enter and exit the water. She also carries over a dozen PFD (Personal Flotation Devices) and has a number of children's sizes as well for all guest's needs. There is a EPIRB (Emergency position-indicating radio beacon) and all USCG required signaling and medical items. The vessel even has thermal visioning (FLIR) for night time maneuvering. All operating crew members at Sundancer Charters are CPR and First Aid certified and have training in emergency procedures. We are a drug free operation.
The first rule above all else is the safe operation of our vessel and the safety of our guests and crew. Before any cruise, there will be a full safety review for all of our guests to ensure everyone has a safe time on the water!
The Irish Wake operates with a First Mate to provide for the needs of our guest while underway. Capt. Shawn is always right there for anything but while underway, the First Mate is available to the guests. We offer drinks of bottled water, iced tea, and sodas as requested during the reservation period and any additional food and drinks that have been quoted in your personalized cruise package. The First Mate will also be responsible for lines, docking, and safe boarding and exiting the vessel for all guests.
Our main goals are the safe operation of the vessel and the safety of our guests and crew. Before any cruise, there will be a full safety review for all of our guests to insure everyone has a safe time on the water. After those are completed, we strive to insure our clients have a great time out on the water and to exceed your expectations!
